Our Projects

Siempre Para Los Ninos

The Sol Collective’s first completed project is a 4 kW solar system for the Siempre Para Los Ninos orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico. Siempre is home to children, infants and teenagers that have faced violence, abandonment, illness, and family adversity. Siempre offers these children a home, an education, and a supportive community. The home is comprised of four buildings – one for infants, a chapel, dining hall and study rooms, and housing. Prior to our partnership, solar modules had already been donated to the home. Without a team to design or install the system, they were unable to take advantage of the energy and financial savings of a solar system.

The Sol Collective is thrilled to have had the opportunity to support the wonderful children and community at Siempre Para Los Ninos. The Sol Collective was able to bring their expertise in solar design and installation to deliver clean, reliable energy that offsets more than 65 percent of the building’s energy use. Our team helped educate and train the staff to operate and maintain the system in order share the benefits of clean energy with the children. The installation was completed on July 8, 2017 and The Sol Collective continues to support the children and community of Siempre Para Los Ninos.

Buena Vida Orfanatorio

The second project we intend to focus on is for Buena Vida Orfanatorio, an orphanage in La Misión, Mexico. Buena Vida’s new facility is currently under construction. Although the building infrastructure is almost complete, they are unable to move into their new home until they are connected to electrical power. While they initially planned to connect to the local power lines, they later learned it would cost about 500,000 Mexican pesos, nearly $30,000, to run power to the facility.

The Sol Collective is sharing their story and connecting with strategic partners collect donations and support to build a fully off-grid solar system consisting of solar panels, battery storage, and generator backup systems. The site will be completely self-sustaining. The Sol Collective is excited to help the children inhabit their new living space while helping Buena Vida save money and declare energy independence.
